Short Bio

Marco Viviani is an Associate Professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Department of Informatics, Systems, and Communication (DISCo).

He graduated in Computer Science (2004) and obtained a Ph.D. in Informatics (2008) from the Università degli Studi di Milano (La Statale), where he was involved in the research activities of the SESAR Lab.

In 2009 he obtained a one-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Université de Bourgogne – Le2i Lab (Dijon, France). In 2010 he obtained a two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées – LIRIS Lab (Lyon, France). From 2011 to 2013 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Università degli Studi dell’Insubria – STRICT SociaLab (Varese, Italy). From 2015 to 2018 he was a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca – IKR3 Lab, and from 2019 to 2021 an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the same university and within the same research laboratory.

He is an Associate Editor of Social Network Analysis and Mining and Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence – Natural Language Processing, an Area Editor (Web Intelligence and E-Services) of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, an Editorial Board Member of Online Social Networks and Media, and a Guest Editor of several Special Issues in International Journals related to the problem of “information disorder” online, among which the Special Issue on Health Misinformation on Social Media, in the “International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health”, and the “Special Issue on Information Analysis and Retrieval in Social Media“, in the “Informatics” International Journal.

His main research activities include Social Computing, Information Retrieval, Text Mining, Natural Language Processing, Trust and Reputation Management, Data Privacy, and User Modeling.
